We Love Our Girls

Stefanie and I just love our kids.
Many people can understand why we do, but for those who do not realize just how fun and sweet our girls are, here's some proof:

Poppy is a funny little bean... Here's a picture of what it's like when Daddy takes care of her while Mommy and Lucy are at the store.  We had some beans for supper.  Just Beans.

Whether she's just cleaned-up or all messy, Poppy manages to enjoy whatever it is she's doing.  She loves to play with her Daddy.

But I know where I rank according to little Poppy.  She loves her mommy much more than me.  Who would blame her?

As for Lucy. . . She is becoming a woman right before our very eyes.  Her thoughts get more complex as she grows, but she is still a fun-loving 2.5 year old and definitely thinks like one.

This is a picture of Lucy hiding from the "Reindeers" right outside our front door.

While I was away one day, Stefanie told me about something that Lucy said before she fell asleep:

Stefanie was putting Poppy to sleep in Poppy's room. Lucy was lying in her bed reading 2 tiny books that Stef gave her to read by herself.

Stefanie said "goodnight Lucy"

Lucy said "goodnight mom!" . .

"I love you Lucy"

"I love you mom!". . . .

then there was silence.

Lucy then yelled out "You're pretty momma!"

"you're pretty too Lucy"

she said "your pretty" again

and Stef said "you're beautiful"

and then she fell asleep.

Times a Ticking!

I keep comparing everything Poppy does to when Lucy did that...except I can't remember anything Lucy did because I didn't write it down anywhere! I thought I would remember but I don't... I can't remember when Lucy could roll over or when she got her first tooth..... I sort of know generally? ooops. I'll try not to make that same mistake again. but in reality I am terrible at writing things down.... so I apologize to my children in advance for knowing nothing about their childhood.

So with that being said.... Poppy just started rolling over a couple days ago both ways and is a rolling machine! she's 4 1/2 months now and is still the perfect baby. She is my smiley happy content baby, and may she never change!

Lucy loves Poppy. So much so that she wants to care a nurture her. The other day she asked if she could feed Poppy and started lifting her shirt up. I told her no she isn't hungry right now, so she got her own baby and now breastfeeds her babydoll now. It's not uncommon for us to both be sitting down feeding our babies. haha. what a funny girl.

Little Poppy Rae Hyde

I just remembered I never posted this.... but also kind of didn't want to at the same time... but here it is! better late than never right? Poppy is 4 1/2 months old already! EEEK!

Where do I start? .... How about with it was the most amazing experience of my life!. On May 9th at 6:51 a.m Poppy Rae was born weighing a whopping 7 pounds and measuring 19 3/4 inches long.

She was also born in my bedroom.

Everyone Should get a midwife. Well everyone should have MY midwife. I kind of love her.

I wasn't planning on having a midwife. I kind of felt a little pressured from my mom to get one (she's kind of a legend in the midwifery scene.... but that's another story). I wasn't against them or anything, it's just that I get afraid of new things sometimes, and I already knew how to do it the other way.
My midwife Noreen, was based out of Stony Plain, so for all my appointments each month I would drive for 45 minutes to get to her house. At the time I was planning to have the baby in the Stony Plain Hospital, but I couldn't imagine driving that long while having contractions. So after driving there for 5 months I decided to have the Babe at home, ... but spared sharing that news with most people because I didn't want to hear their negative comments and blah blah blahs.

I was worried at first that Blake wouldn't be all for this idea, but he was very supportive and actually seemed excited about being at home. So off we went preparing our home for the BIG DAY!,

About a week after my "due date" on Mothers day, Blake and Lucy and I went for a walk before church to get things moving. I started to feel "gassy cramps" but thought nothing of them until church at 1:00 they kept coming, just not nearly consistent enough. Slowly throughout the rest of the day they started coming more often and more intense. The only thing weird was that these contractions were Bum contractions.... no one told me you could have contractions in your bum. I've heard of bake labor... but not bum labor. Let me just tell you that it exists. I still showed my face at my moms house for mothers day dinner with all my family, prentending that nothing was going on. My grandma was the only one that caught on. She said " I think it's going to be tonight, don't you think Kim? (my mom)... she just has this far away look".  My Grandma Wins the prize! by the end the night we decided it was best to leave Lucy at my moms and see what the night had in store for us.

Blake called Noreen at 1:00 in the morning and told her we thought it was time. Then we called my momma and invited her on over for the party as well. Blake started to fill the pool up so that I could sit in nice warm water and relax as much as possible through contractions. I loved it. I wish everyone could labor in a pool. I don't know how I could have done it with it. It kept me in the Zone.

My mom arrived at 1:30am, and Noreen arrived at 2 am. She did the ol check and said I was moving right along! so I was very excited and I felt like it wouldn't be much longer.... (Little did I know that I would be stuck at 8-9 cm for like 3 hours). I was absolutely exhausted, but my pool kept be sane. My mom was their the entire time, but I don't think she said one word. She was my quiet comforter. I love her. Noreen was awesome. She made everything about me and my schedule, instead of her own. She was very patient and gave me my space, but knew when to step in and take charge as well. And step in she did. For over an hour she made me very uncomfortable... I wanted to punch her in the face and get her out of my body. I think I told her that I hated her, or something along those lines. At about 6:30 she told me to get out of the pool. I was going to squat. That was the fastest way this baby was going to come out. Off to my bedroom we went. Blake sitting in a chair to hold me up, and me squatting like a bush woman. The most intense moment of my life. The most amazing moment in my life.  The hardest thing I have ever had to do in my life. The most rewarding thing I have ever done In my life. I told Blake I can do anything now. I seriously felt like superwoman.   I just held her in my arms while they cut the cord. Then I walked to the most comfortable bed in the world (my bed in my HOUSE) and held my baby. the end.

Medicine Hat

I live in Medicine Hat now..... which means I have no friends... not that I had a lot before, but it was nice to know people.
I think I'll start holding auditions for friends , so spread the news! this is an event that should not be missed.

I ran in a 5 km race this morning....... does anyone else pee their pants when they run?
I didn't even know I had to pee.... just a little squirt with every step.... absolutely no control.

the past 6 months....

I haven't posted anything in so long, that I don't even know where to start. So I'll just make a list and post some random pictures.
1. Scotty pants got married

(don't mind me in the middle)

2. 6 (5.5) months Pregnant
I don't really have any pictures of this.... but it's true! little Hubeeb is coming May 2, but realistically May 10.

3. Halloween

I Think she made the cutest chimney sweep I've ever seen

4. Blake grew a beard

Blake had a photoshoot with himself and his beard.... he was so proud.

I think it took him 2 months to grow this?

I think he thought the longer it was... the more full it looked... (which is true)

3. Thanksgiving

I don't have any pictures of this but here's a picture of what I'm thankful for...
Lucy was pretty proud of her climbing skills that day

4. Christmas -
I think this was her favorite present..... she loves her little chairs

she's just funny

She loves her BEEBEE's!

5. Utah - we drove down for a business/fun trip since blake is DONE SCHOOL!!! whoo hooo Psychology DEGREE! here we come FUTURE!

We stayed with some of Blake's family friends who have an indoor pool in their backyard... so we took advantage!

I was sad I couldn't swim. This belly has grown me out of my swimsuit, but I guess that didn't slow Lucy down. She looked like a little boy to me.... a really cute boy

In their pool, they also have this surf simulator big deal

Blake showing off his muscles!! what a BABE!

Never eat here.

We stayed across the street from the Provo temple, so we walked on over to take a peek.

We also stayed with Blakes aunt Laura, who is awesome, and Lucy just looks TOOOOO cute playing with her home furnishings.

I guess that sums everything up?

1 years old....

It's hard to believe my baby came out like this. Thank you for quickly shifting your skull back onto your head. Here is my little alien just 1 year ago.
However she quickly turned into a well rounded perfectly proportioned lady.
I could not have imagined that my sweet little angel (above) could do something like this Below) in just 1 years time. what will become of her in the next year? I'm already afraid.
Thank you for finding the flour bag on the floor, and throwing it all over..... Blake and I just stood there laughing at you while taking your pictures. Just don't do it again!!

she loved opening her presents!... sometimes.... she mostly didn't care
about anything(except for all the attention she was getting)... until we sat her on her new little car from Uncle scott and soon to be Auntie Erin!!

I don't think she could have smiled anymore!

When I turned 1 my mom made me this same bear cake... so I decided to carry on the tradition! I baked the cake.... and Blake decorated it. (what a man right?) and of course she loved it. she couldn't get enough. thats Grandpa Hyde helping her with the cake!

Lucy was such a funny girl on her birthday . I can't even believe she is 1 now. I didn't even believe she looked 1 until I saw these pictures and saw how OLD she looked!!! we love her and are so excited to see what next year will be like as she gets funnier and funnier!

Oh and did I mention she started WALKING???? yup right on her Birthday. I think that makes her officially 1?

I just can't seem to get enough of this face.... and apparently she can't either! she make it at least a hundred times a day after every thing she does.
